Fulbright Scholar Year
During the 2016-17 academic year I was extremely fortunate to have received a Fulbright Scholar position with the Baltic Film and Media School at the Tallinn University. While there I was primarily responsible for developing my project entitled The Intersection of Educational Psychology and Serious Games and also teaching two courses for the Digital Learning Games Master's program.
The aim of the project was to develop the architecture for a game-based learning program entitled Missions with Monty. The aim of the program is to improve 5th graders’ comprehension-monitoring skills and science content knowledge using informational texts. The program will function within a self-regulated learning framework and include three key curricular aligned with Next Generation Science Standards. See more about Missions with Monty here.
My teaching and research allowed me to engage with graduate students at Tallinn University and also students in public schools. I also developed a collaboration with computer scientists at Tallinn Technical University and gave a talk at the affiliated Mektory center related to attending graduate school in the U.S. Below are a few pictures of these experiences.
